The profitability of K-dramas is making the earnings of these actors soar to unprecedented levels

The surge in the popularity of K-dramas has not only transformed the global entertainment landscape, captivating audiences worldwide but has also resulted in a significant financial impact beyond the screen. K-drama actors and actresses, integral to the Hallyu phenomenon, have reached unprecedented levels of fame and fortune.

The widespread appeal of K-dramas has earned them throngs of devoted fans and increased their pay sizeably per episode. Korean A-listers such as Kim Soo-hyun, Lee Jung-jae, Song Joong-ki, and more are now earning hundreds of thousands per episode, amounting to millions per series. Here are nine of the richest K-drama actors in 2024.

Renowned actor Lee Jung-jae is no stranger to the South Korean film circuit but it was Netflix’s 2021 thriller series Squid Game which catapulted him to global fame. He quickly became high in demand, with brands clambering to sign him, after making history by bagging several international best actor awards including at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Primetime Emmy Awards that same year. Lee is set to reprise his role in season two of Squid Game.

Lee, famed for her timeless beauty, was later cast in title roles in Inspector Koo (2021) and Maestra: Strings of Truth (2023).
