After much anticipation, the legendary Dusit Thani Bangkok has reopened following an extensive five-year transformation—during which the entire hotel was rebuilt from the ground up, and reimagined to usher in a new era of luxury.

The opening, held on September 27, was marked by a special ceremony featuring Mr Chanin Donavanik, vice chairman of the board of directors and chairman of the executive committee, Dusit International, who had the honour of being the first guest to check in. It was a symbolic gesture, as it was a nod to his mother’s enduring legacy in launching the original hotel in 1970.

“Just as my mother envisioned the original Dusit Thani Bangkok as a beacon of Thai hospitality on the world stage, the new Dusit Thani Bangkok aims to elevate that legacy,” said Mr Donavanik. “This opening marks not only a new chapter for Dusit but also a new era for Thai hospitality. We are excited to welcome our guests to experience this extraordinary transformation, where heritage and tradition seamlessly blend with innovation to establish a new benchmark for luxury accommodation in Bangkok.”

Dusit Thani Bangkok, the flagship hotel of Dusit International, one of Thailand’s leading hotel and property development companies, has opened as part of the upcoming Dusit Central Park project opposite Lumpini Park in the heart of the city.

The rebuild was led by Dragon Company Limited, a Thailand-based company established by Architects 49 International Limited and OMA Asia (Hong Kong) Limited. Its elegant new interiors are the work of internationally acclaimed interior design firm, André Fu Studio, featuring warm colour tones and subtly incorporated traditional motifs for a modern interpretation of Thai artistry and craftsmanship.

Guests from across the globe travelled to the Thai capital to be among the first to experience the hotel’s new suites, where cantilevered picture frame windows capture breathtaking views of Lumpini Park—one of Bangkok’s most expansive green spaces. A signature Heritage Floor pays homage to the hotel’s storied past, featuring exclusive artworks by local artists that capture the spirit of the original property.

In a city with a stellar reputation for dining, Dusit Thani Bangkok has certainly stepped up to the plate with its culinary offerings: Cannubi, by three-Michelin-starred chef Umberto Bombana, will serve authentic Italian cuisine in a fine-dining setting; Pavilion puts a theatrical spin on the intersection of Thai and Chinese cuisine; and Spire rooftop bar serves cocktails in a delightful tropical setting overlooking sweeping city views.

The newly transformed hotel also unveiled its expansive meeting and events spaces, boasting one of the largest ballrooms in Bangkok. The Napalai Grand Ballroom, with its soaring eight-metre-high ceiling and 55-metre-wide window with panoramic park and cityscape vistas, create a dramatic backdrop for any event.

This November, Tatler Asia, in partnership with TUMI and Dusit Thani Bangkok, will host its inaugural Best of Asia event to celebrate Asia’s finest hotels, restaurants and bars, where the region’s hospitality titans will converge at the iconic hotel.
